Britain was on the wining side despite Churchill not because of Churchill. The British people threw him out at the very first available opportunity because they recognize that he was a poor leader who cost Britain countless thousands of lives.

The whole world has this man to thank for freedom. It is a shame how contemptuous people become when given freedom, entitlement, and social stability, and subsidisation, from the sacrifice of others.
